The Advisory Council for the Eastern Washington Long Term Care Ombudsman Program hosted the annual Volunteer Appreciation Event on July 26 in the Dining Hall at SNAP’s Fort Wright campus. Nearly 40 LTC Volunteer Ombudsmen and their guests enjoyed the Beach Party-themed BBQ. After lunch Regional Ombudsman Linda Petrie talked with the group about Celebrating Small Victories, and presented volunteers with much-deserved awards. This year’s Ombudsman of the Year award went to JoAnne Bailey who, in addition to providing services at both a Nursing Home and Assisted Living Facility, has contributed her time and talents to provide specialized training for our volunteers in order to provide even better service to residents of long-term care facilities. Volunteers also received service pins in recognition of their years serving the program.
Linda’s recent appearance on the KHQ-TV Saturday Morning Show resulted in a flurry of requests for information and application forms for our upcoming Certification Training, happening in September. Persons interested in learning more about the Ombudsman program and how it advocates for and assists residents in long-term care facilities are encouraged to call the office at (509) 456-7133.
