SNAP RESOURCE TEAM: PROVIDING ESSENTIAL COMMUNITY SUPPORT IN SPOKANE
When Spokane residents find themselves at a crossroads, unsure of where to turn for help, the SNAP Resource Team becomes their lifeline. As the front door of Spokane Neighborhood Action Partners (SNAP), this dedicated group of employees and volunteers provides not just resources but hope, compassion, and a path forward.
The Resource Team is often the first voice heard on the phone or the first welcoming face when someone walks through SNAP’s doors seeking assistance. Their mission goes far beyond answering questions or handing out pamphlets; they are a bridge to stability and security for countless individuals and families.
Take Talesha, for instance, a twelve-year SNAP veteran and a member of the Resource Team. She has an unwavering commitment to help others.
“Everyone has needs,” she said, reflecting on her role. “In my time here, I’ve witnessed a variety of hardships that tug at my heart.”
One of the most heart-wrenching challenges Talesha has encountered is supporting seniors forced from their homes without the means to find safe and stable housing.
“Seeing these situations is incredibly difficult,” she shared. “But it also drives us to do everything we can to help them regain a sense of security.”

The team’s work is never just about addressing immediate needs; it’s about forming connections and treating every person with dignity and care. Talesha’s passion for her work is shared by her colleagues, whom she considers her second family.
“I genuinely love what I do,” she said. “My coworkers have become my family away from home.”
The profound impact of the Resource Team’s efforts was vividly illustrated in a mission Talesha undertook with a coworker. They were called to assist an elderly client reliant on wood for heat. Upon arriving at her home, they discovered a dire situation: the woman had fallen and was unable to get up, her cries for help echoing through the home.
“We immediately called fire rescue,” Talesha recounted. “It’s chilling to think—one more day without assistance, and who knows what the outcome might have been?”
“Seeing these situations is incredibly difficult,” she shared. “But it also drives us to do everything we can to help them regain a sense of security.”
This story is just one example of how the SNAP Resource Team goes beyond the call of duty, often stepping into life-saving roles. While they understand they can’t solve every problem, their dedication to meeting people where they are and addressing their unique needs underscores SNAP’s mission.
In a world where many face uncertainty and hardship, the SNAP Resource Team offers more than just assistance—they provide a beacon of hope, proving that compassion and community can truly transform lives.
We would appreciate your support as we provide opportunities to people in need.
