Who does the Housing Stability for Singles program serve?
Housing Stability for Singles is SNAP’s homelessness prevention program for adult
households with no minor children. Households must be at risk of homelessness and be under 80% Area Median Income. Households with minor children should contact Family Promise at (509) 747-5487 or Catholic Charities at (509) 358-4250.

What counts as income? All household monies used for expenses, wages, Social Security, unemployment, rental assistance, retirement, investments, financial aid, and similar sources.
What services does Housing Stability for Singles provide?
The Housing Stability for Singles program assists households who are at risk of eviction or homelessness to maintain their housing. Services are determined on a case-by-case basis and may include any combination of the following, depending on your situation and available funding:
- Case Management
- Landlord Advocacy
- Assistance with Rental Arrears
- Assistance with Utility Arrears
PLEASE NOTE: This program is not able to assist with legal fees, moving costs, or any debt owed to a previous landlord.
How Can I Access Services?
- Complete the Eligibility Survey – Start with the short online survey to indicate your situation and see whether your household may meet program requirements.
- Request an Assessment – Eligible households may request an in-depth assessment appointment. Slots are limited and not always immediately available.
- Enter the Waiting Pool – After your assessment, your household is placed in a waiting pool. Referrals for active services are made directly from this pool.
- Begin Services with a Case Manager – Once selected, you’ll be connected with a dedicated SNAP case manager to begin your housing stability plan.
I’m facing immediate eviction. How long will it take to get assistance from SNAP?
SNAP’s Housing Stability for Singles program is unable to provide emergency rental assistance. Clients are selected from a waiting pool. If you are enrolled in our program, SNAP will attempt to work with your landlord to slow down the eviction process.
