SNAP can accept Qualified Charitable Distributions (QCDs), which can be a tax benefit to you. If you are 70 ½ or older you may make gifts totaling up to $100,000 a year directly from your IRA to qualified charities. QCDs satisfy your Required Minimum Distribution requirements. Ask your financial advisor or tax expert for more information and feel free to reach out to us: mcconnaughey@snapwa.org

Click Here for more about how the new SECURE Act impacts giving from your IRA.

The benefits of making a gift to SNAP this way include:

  • If you don’t itemize deductions and are not yet required to take your RMD, a QCD offers all of the benefits of an itemized income tax charitable deduction.
  • If you are age 72 or older and must take your RMD, a QCD can satisfy your RMD without increasing your income taxes
  • Avoids income tax on IRA withdrawals.
  • Supports SNAP’s important work with a tax-free gift.

HOW TO DO IT:

We have partnered with FREEWILL to help make this kind of giving easy! Please find more information HERE or contact your IRA administrator. They may have specific instructions for you.
