Small Business Development

For some, a small business can provide an increased income as well as a valuable asset that can be handed down or sold in future years. ACCESS works with low- and moderate-income people who want to start a new business or grow an existing business. Services include:

Microenterprise Business Training & Counseling
Our intensive program of classes and workshops cover the key parts of evaluating a business idea and running a business, including: self-assessment, pricing, financial analysis, marketing and bookkeeping. Participants are given assignments to help them research their ideas and guide them through developing their own business plans. Pre-application is required.

The business professionals at ACCESS provide one-on-one guidance as you develop your idea, research information and assemble your business plan. We can provide referrals to mentors, student assistants and other resources. We also continue to advise you during the early years of your business’s growth.

This program helps low- to moderate-income individuals successfully start or expand a business and provide a future of financial security for themselves and their families.

Business Loans

Through ACCESS and its partners, you can apply for a small business loan (in amounts ranging from $500-$75,000) to help with start-up or expansion costs. While we are much more flexible than a bank, we do give consideration to your plan, your work history, your credit history and your collateral when making lending decisions.
