DISCOVER THE COOLCANOPY PROGRAM: GROWING A GREENER SPOKANE!
SNAP is proud to partner with the Spokane Conservation District (SCD) on the CoolCanopy Program, an initiative designed to enhance urban tree canopy coverage across Spokane County. This program focuses on creating cooler, healthier, and more equitable neighborhoods, particularly in underserved and low-canopy areas.
WHY THIS INITIATIVE MATTERS!
Tree canopies do more than beautify a community—they provide essential benefits like:
- Storm Water Management
- Cooling – Shade from Trees Helps Lower Energy Costs
- Air Quality – Trees Absorb Pollutants, Improving the Air That We Breath.
- Improves Wildlife Habitats
- Increases Property Value
- Strengthening Communities: Green spaces boost mental well-being.

Through CoolCanopy, residents in qualifying neighborhoods can receive FREE trees to plant in their yards, helping Spokane become more sustainable and resilient to climate change.
