You will be asked to:

  1. Complete the SNAP Homeless Program Initial Intake Packet. You may obtain this packet at:

    SNAP East Central Office
    500 South Stone
    Spokane, WA.

  2. Return the Initial Intake Packet to the SNAP East Central Office.
  3. Do one office check-in per week for the next month. This shows your interest in Homeless Program participation. To complete a check-in you must:
    1. call the SNAP East Central Office (456-7106), or
    2. come in to the office and express your continuing interest in participating in the program.
  4. When you have completed your fourth check-in for the month, call the SNAP East Central Office (456-7106) to schedule an interview.
  5. Due to high demand for services, we may not be able to do an office interview for several weeks. If we can’t schedule you right away, keep calling, at least once a week. Once we schedule an office interview, you will need to complete a second packet and provide homeless verification before the interview appointment.
  6. Following the in office interview, you may be approved for the Homeless Program participation. At that time, your name will go onto a waiting list for housing. Once you’ve been approved, it takes an average of 1 to 2 months to move into Homeless Program housing.

SNAP has various housing programs. The housing program your family enters into is based on:

  • Individual program eligibility guidelines
  • the needs of your family
  • your goals
  • your income

You and your Family Development Specialist will determine which program is best for your family.
