How many clients are assigned to a Spokane Works Career Coach?
The SpokaneWorks Career Coaches do intensive case management with participants in the Project. In order to do this, we try to keep the caseload for each Coach to between 10-15 participants.
Right now, most of the Coaches have been certified as Family Development Specialists. This training is used in working with participants.
What is a Career Coach?
The title Career Coach is deliberate:
The Coach's role is to encourage, motivate, challenge and walk with. Our role is not to do for, rather to connect the participant with resources and supports so that they can do for themselves.
All of this is done within the context of building a relationship of mutual trust and respect that leads the participant to the kind of life they want to create.
Who is eligible to receive help from SpokaneWorks?
If you are:
- receiving TANF and have not been able to find work, or
- have a disability that has prevented you from finding work,
then contact your case manager at DSHS. You may also receive assistance if you have received TANF benefits for 30 months or more.
How can I get help through SpokaneWorks?
You must be referred to SpokaneWorks from the appropriate Community Service Office of DSHS.
Referrals for the Non-Custodial Parent aspect come from the Division of Child Support or the Spokane County Prosecutors office.
How long will the funding for this program last?
Funding for SpokaneWorks will continue until September 30, 2004.
