Project Share Receives $200,000 Boost
A $200,000 donation has significantly increased the ability for SNAP to aid those with serious energy emergencies in Spokane County. Project Share is the fund that assists those with shut-off notices who are unable to pay their bill.
The donation was presented by Avista Utilities President Dennis Vermillion to SNAP Executive Director Larry Stuckart on November 10.
“Avista and our employees have a strong commitment to our communities and to the residents that find themselves in difficult circumstances. Our energy assistance programs, including Project Share, are important parts of our community partnership,” said Vermillion.
Project Share provides emergency aid to qualifying households that have exhausted all other opportunities, regardless of the type of fuel used to warm their homes. Project Share is available to customers of all utility companies.
Spokane area residents who would like to support Project Share can do so by adding the amount they wish to donate to their energy payment by writing the amount in the Project Share line on their utility bill. SNAP can also accept donations for Project Share.
“Project Share is an important safety net that provides our community benefits from on the regular basis,” according to SNAP Executive Director Larry Stuckart. “We can always use additional donations to this important fund.”
