New Business Resource Center to Open
Grand Opening – July 29 – 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
SNAP Financial Access, the economic development subsidiary of SNAP, has announced the opening of a new business resource center. The new center will house the former BIZStreet Resource Library, a library of educational resources made available for small businesses.
The complete business library was donated to SNAP Financial Access by BIZStreet, the small business program of Greater Spokane Incorporated (GSI).
“BIZStreet and GSI understood that the library is a critical resource for small business owners and entrepreneurs who want to start a small business,” according to Tate White, BIZStreet Resource Center Coordinator. “So, we looked for an organization that would keep the resources available for the community. SNAP Financial Access is the perfect organization to do that”.
“The donation of this library will ensure that small business owners continue to have access to valuable resource information as they start and expand their businesses,” says Kerri Rodkey, SNAP Financial Access Director. “We are very excited to be able to offer this service to the community, including clients of the former Women’s Business Center, which also has transferred library resources to us. This library will complement our full range of small business services, including business consulting, lending and training.”
The resource library contains publications on how to start nearly every type of business, ranging from in-home businesses such as child care and internet marketing, to storefront businesses such as retail clothing, coffee shops and restaurants, to professional services such as tax accounting and public relations.
The library also contains volumes of publications, videos and audio tapes on marketing, advertising, recordkeeping, market and industry research and business management and operations.
“The library is very extensive and has been developed over many years based on the needs of the small business owner,” said White.
A grand opening for the Business Resource Center will be held on Wednesday, July 29, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
The Business Resource Center is located in downtown Spokane next door to 212 S. Wall St. Business hours will be Tuesday and Thursday, 1 p.m. to 7 p.m. or by appointment. The center is available to all residents of Spokane County.
SNAP Financial Access is a Community Development Financial Institution providing business and consumer lending and financial services. It is a subsidiary of SNAP.
