Mortgage Default & Foreclosure Prevention (MAP) Counseling

This program is designed to help homeowners prevent a mortgage default or foreclosure. Our mortgage counselors:

  • provide one-to-one counseling on homeownership problems
  • make referrals to resources
  • provide information on the options that may be available to help get homeowners out of mortgage defaults or prevent foreclosure.

Counseling is provided free of charge.

Eligibility

  • Counseling is available to all homeowners in eastern Washington.
  • Counseling by phone can be arranged for homeowners outside the Spokane area or for those requesting a reasonable accommodation.

To schedule an appointment, call 509-456-7106.You will need to bring the following to your appointment:

  • Mortgage information such as; letters sent to you from the lender, payment coupons or loan documents.
  • Verification of all household income (pay stubs, award letters etc.)
  • Documentation of household expenses and debts (bank statements, monthly bills)

The SNAP Mortgage Assistance Program is approved by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) to provide Comprehensive Housing Counseling for households that are experiencing a housing related problem or need.
