SNAP’s Weatherization program can help reduce the impact of heating costs for low-income households -- and reduce the national consumption of energy. With the help of our partners, who are listed below, we are able to provide weatherization services to low-income households.
We will assess your situation and determine your most critical needs. Examples of weatherization measures might include:
- reduce drafts with caulking and weather stripping
- improve ventilation
- install insulation in ceilings, attics, and vent exterior roofs.
- install insulation to exterior walls, crawl spaces and basements.
- tune, clean and repair furnaces to improve efficiency.
- install water heater, pipe, and duct insulation.
- repair windows and doors.
We also checks for health and safety hazards, including:
- testing for carbon monoxide levels
- installing fire alarms where necessary.
We also will explain the proper use and maintenance of all systems we install.
SNAP contracts with the Federal Departments of Health and Human Services and Department of Energy, Bonneville Power Administration, Washington State Matchmakers, and Avista Utilities to provide this service.
