Many low-income homeowners do not have the means to repair or maintain their homes, yet affordable housing often has dangerous or unhealthy defects. The SNAP Minor Home Repair Program repairs or replaces items that pose a health or safety hazard.
In addition, some low-income homeowners are forced by accident or ill health into wheelchairs and do not have the means necessary to install wheelchair ramps or other accessibility modifications. This program can assist homeowners in improving these critical problems.
Examples of eligible repairs:
- furnace repairs
- minor wiring repair
- clear plugged drain lines
- faucet repair
- refrigerator repair
- stove repair
- hot water tank repair
- wheelchair ramps
- pipe thawing
- door repair or replacement for security reasons
This program does not assist with cosmetic work.
