Program Options

Weatherization Home Assessments

A home assessment is a critical step in SNAP’s Single Family Weatherization program. During this process, you will:

  • learn about the weatherization process and its benefits
  • receive on-site energy education that relates to your specific needs
  • may be referred to other agency programs and services for additional assistance.

Home assessments are approximately 60 to 90 minutes in length.

Do It Yourself Weatherization Classes

In this program, you will learn learn basic home repairs that help reduce home energy costs. Class topics include:

  • methods of home energy conservation
  • average household energy usage
  • air sealing measures
  • installation of energy saving devices
  • basic home repairs
  • proper tool use and safety.

Classes are held monthly and are 90 minutes in length. Sign up by contacting SNAP at 744-3370.

Low Cost No Cost Energy Education Classes

Learn how to save energy in your home using common-sense techniques. Topics include:

  • the benefits of energy conservation
  • alternative energy sources
  • effective methods for keeping homes comfortable for less money

Classes are held in the summer and early fall and are 90 minutes in length. Sign up for a Low Cost No Cost Energy Education class by contacting SNAP at 744-3370.

Living Green Classes and Community Workshops

In our Living Green home parties, classes and workshops, you will learn how to create a sustainable and healthy lifestyle. Topics include:

  • non-toxic cleaners
  • waste reduction through recycling, composting and decreasing consumption
  • alternative transportation choices
  • the importance of supporting locally owned businesses and organic farms

Most events are from 1 to 2 hours in length.

Project Share Applicants

If you have received a utility shut-off notice and are applying for emergency energy assistance through Project Share, you must participate in an Energy Conservation workshop. Project Share payments are made to a variety of utility companies, including oil and propane.

Workshops are held during the energy season, approximately November through March, and are 90 minutes in length.
